What makes or breaks an internship is not what you put on your resume. What matters is everything else: the people, the responsibilities, the experience, and the knowledge, skills, and lessons learned. The experience is key and if you have a good internship the experience is irreplaceable. Bexar County Juvenile Probation provides an excellent opportunity for professional and personal growth while helping the Department serve the needs of adolescents and their families.

The Department's Internship Program provides eligible college and university students with on-site training and work experience to meet their curriculum internship/practicum requirements. The Internship Program has associate, undergraduate, graduate, and doctorial level students in criminal justice, corrections, sociology, psychology, counseling, and social work.
BCJPD offers one of the largest student internship/practicum sites in the area and the opportunities to "make a difference" are diverse. Take note of the following requirements and contact the Internship office listed below.
ALL PROSPECTIVE INTERNS WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:
- *Be interviewed and accepted by the Internship Director
- *Current enrollment in course requiring internship/practicum
- *Provide the following:
- A current resume
- Confirmation of class registration
- Social Security Card
- School ID Card
- Valid Driver's License
- *Completion of MINNESOTA MULTIPHASIC PERSONALITY INVENTORY(MMPI)
- (Provided by the Department)
- *Clear Background and Fingerprint Check
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU HAVE ANY CRIMINAL HISTORY, PENDING CHARGES, OR ACTIVE WARRANTS YOU CANNOT BE ACCEPTED IN THE PROGRAM.
Please consider carefully the days and hours that you will be able to devote to this Internship, as your availability will determine where you can be placed, and some placements are limited due to class curriculum requirements.
