To request a copy of records, mail your request along with a check or money order to:
Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office
7337 Louis Pasteur Drive
San Antonio, Texas 78229
Attn: Records Section
The fees for services are located on the Fee Schedules under Services, or you can email your request and we will reply notifying you of the fees for the records requested. If an electronic copy is requested, there is no fee.
It usually takes 8-12 weeks to complete a report. Please do not send any requests before 12 weeks as we cannot accept any public information requests for open cases. Be sure to include the deceased's name, date of death and return address on your request (or an email address if you prefer to have it emailed). The legal next of kin is allowed one free copy. However, a Request for Public Information form must be submitted, either by email to MERecords@Bexar.org, mail, or in person during business hours Monday through Friday, 8am - 12 noon or 1pm - 5pm.
Effective November 15, 2013, all requests for records on homicide and undetermined cases will be sent to the District Attorney's Office for review before we can release the records. Any subpoenas or requests for any and all records (regardless of manner of death) will also be sent to the District Attorney's Office for review prior to releasing any records.
